I am sure that we all have many memories of the Catering Business. I was blessed to be able to work for my parents who ran Reiman Hall and also for Grandma & Dzia who ran Kornowicz Catering. Chris & I used to work most weekends at catering...in addition to our day jobs. Thanks Grandma & Dzia for starting this business and putting the love of cooking in all of us. Thanks Uncle Jerry & Aunt Chris for keeping Kornowicz Catering alive for this long. May you have a Happy Retirement...can you ever retire from this business. To this day I love to cook and entertain...the larger the group the better.
Steakrolls were a favorite in my house. I am not sure who invented them but the White's enjoy them...well most of us.
Chris, Joe and Uncle Allen were on there way to a party one Saturday afternoon...driving Big Blue to Weber Post in Lackawana from Gorski St. While rounding the corner the back doors flew open and yep you guessed it the wagon of meat and a pot of cabbage flew out the door. Sounds like something from the movies. They pulled the truck over to access the situation and did what any good person would do. Scooped up the cabbage from the street back into the pot and put the steakrolls back in the roaster...arrived at Weber Post with closed lips. The food was served and the kitchen got rave reviews that night. Only later while enjoying Pizza, wings and beer on Gorski St was the truth revealed. Oh the memories.

The End of an Era
My entire life I remember going to Grama K's during the summer and sneaking "next door" to where my mom was working and taste the food...mmmm! In November, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Chris are retiring and the family business ~Kornowicz Catering~ will cease operations. I helped out at one of the last parties last night, and it was rather bittersweet. As usual, it was chaotic, crazy, messy, organized and planned, -and peaceful. As much as there are crazy things going on and it gets insane, I found a wave of peace, maybe it was Gramma & Grandpa looking down. The food was fabulous, as usual-pork chops and chicken cordon bleu, kapusta, green beans, and twice baked potatoes. If you have some memories, please share them! This has touched each one of us in one way or another~and Gramma and Grandpa would be so proud!
